The Case for Biden

By Dylan Miller

The map of the swing states for the 2020 presidential election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump shows that Nebraska is 50/50 voting for both Biden and Trump, Maine is considered a toss-up with a very slight lead for Biden, and the rest of the states, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Iowa are also a toss-up. I am predicting, based on the swing state map and polls, that Joe Biden will be able to win the 2020 election. Right now, according to the swing state map from CNN.com, Biden is predicted to win 290 electoral college votes, while President Trump is predicted to get 163. There are about 85 battleground votes in the United States, so even if President Trump gets all 85, he would still be trailing with 248 votes.

According to an article on CNBC.com, “These House districts in Maine and Nebraska could hold the key to who wins the White House.” Biden could potentially lose a vote in Maine but could win a vote in Nebraska. This is because Maine and Nebraska give votes to the popular vote winner, and who gets more votes in each of their congressional districts. Battleground states are what will affect Biden more than one or two votes from Maine and Nebraska. The battleground states have traditionally been Florida, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

In the battleground state of Florida, it is predicted that Biden is going to win that battle with Trump by a narrow margin. Right now, it is said that whoever wins Florida will win it all.
